To install the theme you must have WordPress already installed on your server. Please consult the WordPress installation guide or your web host provider for help with this.
This theme is fully compatible with BBPress. Install the plugins from the plugin admin panel in your WordPress install.
You can install the theme in two ways:
- WordPress Upload: In the WordPress admin panel navigate to Appearance > Add New Themes > Upload. Go to browse and select the zipped theme folder. Press install now and the theme will be uploaded and installed.
- FTP Upload: Using your FTP program upload the on-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder of your WordPress installation.
Once the theme is uploaded, you need to activate it. Go to Appearance > Themes and activate your theme.
Important: Next you must initialize the default theme settings. Go to Appearance > Theme Options and press “save options”. Next go to Appearance > Customize and save the default settings (You may need to modify an option to allow you to save).
Now we need to setup the homepage/blog page and home page. Simply go to Pages > Add New and create the following pages with no content:
- Homepage with the custom page template “Homepage”

Now we assign the pages we’ve just created to display as the blog and homepage. We do this here: Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays
Set the homepage as the homepage page we’ve just created, and the posts page to the News page we’ve just created.

Setup Homepage Blocks
To add new homepage block in your WordPress admin panel, click “Homepage Blocks > Add New Block”.
Order the feature boxes by changing the “order” value in the “attributes” box.
You can change how many feature blocks appear per row in the theme options panel.
Add your homepage widgets & homepage sidebar widgets
Assigning the homepage widgets is simple. In Appearance > Widgets add the widgets to the “Homepage Widgets” & “Homepage Sidebar” area.
You can modify the homepage sidebar position left, right or off in the theme options.
Setup Theme Options
The theme options should all be pre-populated with default data. To make sure it’s activated simply go to Appearance > Theme Options and click save. Take some time to take a look through the options and customize them for your site.
This section will walk you through utilizing the various features of the theme.
Any number of FAQ pages can be created. To create a new FAQ page, simply create a new FAQ in FAQs > Add New. To add FAQ questions/answers to your new FAQ page, simply make the new FAQ a child of the parent page you’ve just created.
So for example this FAQ question/answer will appear in the “WordPress FAQ” page:
You’ll end up with the admin page looking somewhat like this:
Use the attributes > order number to set the order of FAQ questions/answers within each page.
2.2 Knowledge Base
Your knowledge base index will automatically be setup at /knowledgebase/. You can create a link using the Custom Link option in the WordPress Menu creator.
To create a new knowledge base article, go to WP Admin > Knowledge Base > Add New.
You can modify various Knowledge Base settings in the theme options.
This theme is fully compatible with BBPress, a community forum plugin for WordPress. For the theme to load and activate it’s BBPress function, you must first install and activate BBPress, it can be found here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/

The theme comes with a simple to use administration panel. You can access it by navigating to Appearance > Theme Options.
These options allow you to configure the homepage.
These options allow you to modify blog options.
Knowledge Base Options
This section allows you to modify the Knowledge Base options.
This section allows you to modify the Forum options.
This section allows you to disable various features and add your own Custom CSS to the theme.
To setup your custom menus, navigate to Appearance > Menus. Give your menu a name and build it up using the available widgets. You can add a variety of items including pages, categories, custom links. To extend the available widgets, click the screen options tab at the very top of the screen and configure your options.
Once you have built and saved your menu, simply select the theme location using the widget on the left.
This theme comes with various custom widgets that can be found under Appearance > Widgets.
You can modify the look of widgets by using additional classes. You can use these built in classes:
Custom Blog Widget
This widget allows you to show your latest blog posts in widgetised areas. You can configure the title and number of posts to display.
Custom KB Articles Widget
This widget allows you to configure and list of Knowledge Base articles.
- Title: Title of the widget
- Number of articles to show: Enter the number of articles to display.
- Order: Order articles by ASC or DESC
- Order By: What metric to order the articles by.
Custom KB Categories Widget
This widget allows you to show a list of Knowledge Base Categories.
The theme comes pre-packed with a number of shortcodes allowing you to add styled content to your site with little effort.
Conveniently, the available shortcodes have been included in a one-click menu. When creating a page or post, click the green “+” icon to reveal a list of shortcodes. Choose the functionality you wish to include and click “insert”.
The theme supports the use of featured images. The theme supports auto-resizing of the featured images. Auto-resizing will only occur however when the image is uploaded for the first time, images that have previously been uploaded will not be resized. You can however use the following plugin to regenerate the thumbnails: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
To upload a post thumbnail, go to Posts > Add New or open an existing post in editing mode. Locate the Featured Image module and click the Set featured image link.
Clicking the link will open up the usual WordPress image uploader where you will upload your image. Simply make sure that it is either the same size or larger than what the final thumbnail will be. Once you’re done uploading the image, simply click the link that says “Set Featured Image”, which is next to the button to insert it into the post.
